The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) recommended the prayer: "O God, I ask You for the ability to do good, to avoid evil and to love the poor."

The Prophet also told his wife: "If you love the poor and bring them near you. . .God will bring you near Him on the Day of Resurrection."
