A Simple Way to Continue Kindness for Our Parents Through Sadaqah Jariyah

Losing a parent leaves a space in our hearts that never truly disappears. Even though they are no longer with us, our love for them can continue through our actions. One of the most beautiful ways to honour their memory is by giving sadaqah jariyah, a continuous charity that benefits others and, by Allah's mercy, continues to bring rewards.

The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught that when a person passes away, their deeds come to an end except for three things: ongoing charity, beneficial knowledge, and a righteous child who prays for them. This gives us hope that we can still do something meaningful for our parents after they have returned to Allah.

Sadaqah jariyah can take many forms. It could be helping to build a well that provides clean water, contributing towards a mosque, supporting the construction of a school, donating Qur'ans, planting trees that provide shade and fruit, or helping fund healthcare for those in need. Any charity that continues to benefit people over time can become a lasting source of reward.

When giving, make the intention that the reward is for your parents. Sincerity is what matters most. Whether your contribution is large or small, Allah knows your intention and your love for those you are remembering.

Alongside charity, never underestimate the power of making dua for your parents. Ask Allah to forgive them, grant them mercy, expand their graves with light, and admit them into Jannah. These heartfelt prayers are among the greatest gifts a child can offer.

Acts of kindness done in their name can also become a source of comfort for those left behind. Every life touched by your generosity becomes a reminder that love does not end with death. Instead, it continues through compassion, generosity, and prayer.

May Allah accept every act of charity given on behalf of our parents, forgive their shortcomings, shower them with His mercy, and reunite us with them in Jannatul Firdaus. Ameen.

Every Dua From Allah's Names | Dr. Omar Suleiman — Full Compilation

There are moments when words fail you — but you still need to speak to Allah.

This is that video.

Dr. Omar Suleiman calls upon Allah through His Beautiful Names in one continuous act of worship, drawing from Yaqeen's The Name I Need series. Each Name opens a door — to mercy, to forgiveness, to provision, to healing. Follow along, raise your hands, and let the words carry what your heart can't.
This video is meant to be returned to. When you feel distant from Allah. When you need to make dua but don't know where to start. When your heart needs to be reminded of who Allah is and how close He is to you.

Listen carefully. Reflect on the meanings. Raise your hands as the duas are recited. You may wish to listen with your family or loved ones and make supplication together.

Allah is closer to us than our jugular vein — and He loves when His servants call upon Him by His Names. May Allah accept our duas, forgive our shortcomings, and draw our hearts closer to Him.

Yaqoob عليه السلام call for Allah’s help

Over the years, I developed a habit of subconsciously reciting واللہ المستعان whenever I faced something that disturbed my peace. But I was never aware of the background story of such powerful word until only recently when I heard about it in a lecture by on Surah Yousuf.

The word, Wallahul Musta’aan, as mentioned in the Quran, was said by Yaqoob عليه السلام when his sons came up with a false story of what happened to Yousuf عليه السلام. Yaqoob  tried his best to find the truth but his sons teamed up to defend their heinous act and lies. Tired of the situation, Yaqoob asked Allah for Sabrun Jameel (beautiful patience) followed by Wallahul Mustaa’an.

According to the commentators of the Quran, Wallahul Musta’an is used to call for Allah’s help when you find yourself in impossible situations, when people team up against you to defend their lies, when people accuse you of something false, when you have given your best and desperately waiting for desired results, when you feel you’re in a situation where there’s no way out. It’s literally saying to Allah that I have given my best and now I am taking a backseat, I want You to take charge of the driving seat and solve this matter with your Divine intervention.

And patience automatically becomes beautiful when with all your heart, mind, and soul you leave the matter on Allah.
Sharing it with you all because I thought it might brighten someone’s day. Don’t worry if the situation seems impossible, remember you’re asking the One who just have to say ‘Kun’ and it is.
You are asking the One who calls Himself, Al-Fattah. Who creates a way out when there seems to be no way. So take a backseat and let Allah do the rest.
Wallahul Musta'an - “Allah is the one sought for help”

Dua for our children

Dear Allah,

When I complain of my child, remind me of the test that Adam and Hawa عليه السلام faced when Qabil killed Habil,
When I complain of my child, remind me of Nuh عليه السلام as he watched his child die in the waters when Allah ﷻ sent the floods,
When I complain of my child, remind me of Hud عليه السلام whose son refused to believe in Allah and remained with the non believers,
When I complain of my child, remind me of Ibrahim عليه السلام who was asked to leave Ismail عليه السلام as a newborn infant on the burning sands between Mount Safa and Mount Marwah,
When I complain of my child, remind me of when You ﷻ commanded Ibrahim عليه السلام to sacrifice his only son after almost 100 years, for Your pleasure,
When I complain of my child, remind me of Yaqub عليه السلام whose sons left Yusuf عليه السلام to die in a well, yet Yaqub عليه السلام held on to the belief that his son was still alive,
When I complain of my child, remind me of the mother of Musa عليه السلام, who was commanded to place her newborn baby in a bassinet and in the dangerous waters of the river Nile,
When I complain of my child, remind me of our mother Maryam  عليه السلام, who gave birth to Isa عليه السلام alone under a date tree,
When I complain of my child, remind me of our beloved Prophet Muhammad ﷺ who buried all of his beloved children in his lifetime, with the exception of Fatimah  ‎ رضي الله عنه ,
When I complain of my child, remind me that until today there are people who are struggling to conceive.

🤲 Ya Hayyu Ya Qayyum, my child is an Amanah that you have blessed me with. I am grateful for this blessing, and I pray every single day that this Amanat will be the coolness of my eyes, as well as a bearer of the pillars of Islam.
Ya Allah bless my sisters who are praying for children with pious, healthy and beautiful children.
Ya Allah answer the prayer of every mother/guardian/parent for her child.
Allahumma ameen!

O Allah, compensate me for my hardship and replace it with something which is better.

When Umm Salamah lost her husband, one of the early converts to Islam and a most beloved companion, she mourned him bitterly.
But she turned to Allah with patience (sabr) and Dua:

“Allahuma ajirni fi museebati wakhlifli khayran minha - O Allah, compensate me for my hardship and replace it with something which is better.”
Even as she was saying the Dua she thought “Who could be better than Abu Salamah?”
The Prophet صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ  was the man better than Abu Salamah, and Allah blessed her with marriage to the noble Prophet صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ .

No matter what you’ve lost in this world, Allah can ALWAYS substitute it with something better.
During tough times do your best to envision a positive future and never give up on hope and good expectations of Allah.

Hope is more valuable than we give it credit.
Hope remembers all the times in the past that you made it through.
Hope teams up with faith and believes the impossible.
Make dua and forget and know that Allah never forgets. When Allah empties our hands it's only to fill it with something greater, better and eternal.

🤲 May Allah bless us with the best of deen, duniya and akhira - Allahumma ameen.

Supplication of the Oppressed

Anas ibn Malik reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “Beware of the supplication of the oppressed, even if he is an unbeliever, for there is no barrier between it and Allah.”

Khutbah by Ustadh Nouman Ali Khan: Dua for the Ummah

Another very beautiful khutbah by Br. Nouman. The most important thing to highlight for the sermon is, “Posting a dua is not dua. A dua is a conversation with Allah, not with the internet. Not with people.”

You can check out our Dua (Supplications) page

Should Muslims Migrate from Western societies to Islamic ones?

Muslims are supposed to be like the torch that brings light to all dark corners in this world. After Islam was established in Arabia, during and after Prophet Muhammad (pbuh), the companions of the Prophet (pbuh) took the light if Islam to all corners of the world. For some reason the religious Muslims want to migrate to Islamic lands and live in Khilafah.

While I would understand this if there were countries with proper Islamic shariah and proper Muslim laws and ruler but the truth is far from this.

This Ramadan lecture from Nouman Ali Khan brings this point home.

Dua for repentance

The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) made the following supplication: "My Lord, accept my repentance, wash away my sin. . .guide my heart, make true my tongue, and draw out malice from my breast." Sunan of Abu-Dawood
