‘Israeli Society Has Become Completely Genocidal' - B'Tselem Head Yuli Novak

Simone Zimmerman sits down with Yuli Novak, Executive Director of the Israeli human rights group B’Tselem, and one of the most uncompromising dissident voices within Israel. Yuli reflects on her journey from an upbringing shaped by patriotism and belief in Israeli democracy to a painful reckoning with what she now calls an apartheid regime — and with the conditions that enabled mass complicity with genocide.

Yuli revisits her years leading Breaking the Silence — a group of former Israeli soldiers that documented abuses under occupation — which became the target of an all-out smear campaign involving government officials, mainstream media, legal harassment, and infiltration by right-wing groups. Today, as head of B’Tselem, Yuli explains why the organization chose to name Israel’s actions in Gaza as genocide in its report ‘Our Genocide’.

Beyond Israelism with Simone Zimmerman is a provocative new video podcast series from Tikkun Olam Productions, the team behind the viral and award-winning 2023 film Israelism. In this series, Simone hosts bold and inspiring conversations that face, head on, the growing global reckoning with Zionism, the debates over Jewish identity, and the urgent struggle for Palestinian freedom.

Unpacking the ‘INSANE’ Premise of Zionism, with Mehdi and Alana Hadid

Mehdi is joined by returning co-host Alana Hadid — an activist, designer, and Creative Director of the Palestinian film company Watermelon Pictures — for a special LIVE taping of ‘We’re Not Kidding’ in Los Angeles. They also took great questions from the audience which made for an episode you don’t want to miss.

Mehdi and Alana dig into the “insane” premise of Zionism and the foundational double standard the entire movement is built upon. They also talk about the weaponization of religion by Christian Zionists and the hypocrisy of Evangelical Christians for not speaking out against the murders of Palestinian Christians in Gaza, the recent ICE raids in Los Angeles and the massive protests that erupted in response, and how Ted Cruz made the US-Israel relationship “Instagram official” during his Tucker Carlson interview.

Also be sure to check out the Q&A that begins 32 minutes into the episode. Zeteo subscribers asked Mehdi and Alana important questions about how to change the minds of PEPs (Progressive Except for Palestine), Israel’s pinkwashing, and Benjamin Netanyahu’s endgame — one questioner even challenged Mehdi’s own political views!

Coping with the Genocide in Gaza: An Islamic Perspective

“And do not think that Allah is unaware of what the wrongdoers do. He only delays them for a Day when eyes will stare in horror.”
— Surah Ibrahim (14:42)

Witnessing the ongoing genocide in Gaza is heartbreaking. The images, videos, and stories reach deep into our souls. As Muslims, we are meant to feel this pain. Our Prophet ﷺ was a mercy to the worlds—merciful to the oppressed, the wounded, and the grieving. But how do we carry this weight without breaking? How do we cope while remaining spiritually grounded?

Turn to Allah in Du’a

When you feel helpless, turn to the One who is never helpless. Du’a is not just a plea—it is a weapon, a shield, and an act of love. Cry to Allah for the people of Gaza. Make heartfelt du’a in sujood. Pray for the martyrs, the injured, the orphaned, the mothers, the journalists. Name them, remember them, and beg Allah for victory, protection, and justice. There is no such thing as a powerless prayer.

Return to the Qur’an

The Qur’an is the Book of the oppressed. It speaks of tyrants and liberators. It tells the story of Musa and Pharaoh—not as a tale of the past, but as a pattern of the present. Read it with Gaza in your heart and you’ll find guidance, strength, and clarity. The cries of the oppressed are not ignored by Allah. They are recorded, and justice is promised.

Let Your Grief Be a Sign of Faith

Feeling overwhelmed, angry, or broken is not a weakness—it is a sign that your heart is alive. The Prophet ﷺ wept when he saw injustice. The Sahabah felt deep sadness when they couldn’t help the oppressed. Your grief is valid. But don’t let it turn to despair. Let it move you toward action, toward prayer, toward truth.

Give in Any Way You Can

Even if you cannot be there in person, you are not without power. Give what you can: your money, your voice, your time. Share verified information. Support Palestinian-led charities. Join protests. Educate others. Raise awareness. Every sincere act counts. Even a single tweet made with truth and compassion can be a form of jihad with the tongue.

Practice Sabr with Purpose

Sabr isn’t passive—it’s powerful. It means staying steady in the face of injustice. Taking care of your body and mind. Praying even when it hurts. Speaking truth even when it’s unpopular. Going to work or school even when your heart is heavy—not because you’re ignoring Gaza, but because our strength sustains the struggle.

Hold Firm to Hope in Allah’s Justice

It may feel like the oppressors are winning, but this world is not the final chapter. Allah sees. Allah knows. Allah never lets injustice go unpunished. Trust that every drop of blood, every tear, every child’s smile that was stolen is counted—and that Allah will restore it all. Never lose faith in His justice, even when the world goes silent.

Final Reflection

To witness genocide is to be tested. Not only in how we respond externally, but in who we become internally. Gaza is not just a humanitarian crisis—it is a spiritual call. A call to rise. To remember. To act. And to believe that Allah’s promise is true.

“O Allah, help the people of Gaza. Protect their children, strengthen their hearts, accept their martyrs, and destroy the oppressors. Make us among those who stand with the oppressed in word, wealth, and spirit. Ameen.”

The World is a Joke! | Bassem Youssef

The Tea with Myriam François, we sit down with comedian and political fire-starter Bassem Youssef to unpack the surreal state of power and resistance.

Bassem is a former surgeon who swapped scalpels for satire. Dubbed the “Jon Stewart of the Arab world”, Bassem brings his no-holds-barred analysis to questions that many fear to ask — about complicity, distraction, and how the elite keep uprisings in check.

From the fallout of the Epstein files to the IDF’s social media storms, we ask:

Who’s running the show — and how does humour disrupt their script?

Gaza Is Not Lost, Muslims Are Lost with Abubaker Abed

Meeting someone who has experienced the trauma of Gaza is really humbling. Journalist Abu Bakr Abed did not start out as a war journalist. In relatively calmer days before the genocide, his reporting mainly was on football. But like so many Gazans, the slaughter changed lives and in so many cases ended them.

I met Abu Bakr in Ireland, a country that had recently welcomed the young man after he spent 18 gruelling months witnessing the most horrific crimes. Abu Bakr’s faith, as you will see, remains strong, but he is broken, not by the bombs, but by the inaction. In this interview, he speaks of the responsibility of the Muslim ummah and how, he believes, we have all failed.

Gazan Doctor SLAMS Piers Morgan

In this powerful follow-up interview, Dr. Mustafa reflects on the growing change in global sentiment. He discusses Piers Morgan’s unexpected shift in stance toward Gaza, the mounting international pressure on Israel, and the tidal wave of public opinion that is beginning to break through years of silence. We also explore how Australia can play a meaningful role in holding Israel accountable and supporting the Palestinian cause. But beyond the headlines, Dr. Mustafa shares something deeply personal — his mission to build a children’s hospital in Gaza, even as bombs fall and the healthcare system is collapsing.

Hip-Hop Star Macklemore on New Film "The Encampments" & Why He Opposes Israel's War on Gaza

The four-time Grammy-winning musician Macklemore, a vocal proponent of Palestinian rights and critic of U.S. foreign policy. He serves as executive producer for the new documentary The Encampments, which follows last year's student occupations of college campuses to protest U.S. backing of Israel's genocidal assault on Gaza. He tells Democracy Now! why he got involved with the film and the roots of his own activism, including the making of his song "Hind's Hall," named after the Columbia student occupation of the campus building Hamilton Hall, which itself was named in honor of the 5-year-old Palestinian child Hind Rajab. Rajab made headlines last year when audio of her pleading for help from emergency services in Gaza was released shortly before she was discovered killed by Israeli forces.

"We are in urgent, dire times that require us as human beings coming together and fighting against fascism, fighting against genocide, and the only way to do that is by opening up the heart and realizing that collective liberation is the only solution," Macklemore says.

Tribute to Uncle Khaled (ra) | The Other Side

When all else fades, only hope in Allah remains.
At the moment of death, no deed will matter more than trusting in His mercy. Even the most righteous entered the Barzakh with sins—yet it was their good opinion of Allah that erased them. In that unseen world, His mercy conceals shortcomings, and His forgiveness grants peace.

The gates of redemption never close to those who sincerely seek Him. So as you journey through this life, carry this truth with you: hope in Allah is not just a feeling—it is the greatest act of worship.

Every day is a chance to grow. Keep seeking knowledge.

What About the Innocent Children? | Barzakh :Dr. Omar Suleiman

What happens to the children whose lives were stolen before they’ve even begun?

We’ve wept over Reem and Wadea, and were haunted by Hind’s final cries, and to the countless children who were lost among thousands of names of those martyred, we wonder how this injustice could continue. While we grapple with their losses, and pray for their parents, Allah comforts us with the knowledge that they are nurtured, embraced, and waiting in a realm where injustice cannot reach them. Their names may fade from the headlines, but they will never fade from the mercy of the Most Merciful.

Coping Islamically with Watching a Genocide

In our interconnected world, access to real-time news and social media often exposes us to unimaginable atrocities, such as genocide and mass violence. Witnessing such events, even from afar, can lead to feelings of helplessness, grief, and overwhelming sadness. As Muslims, we turn to our faith to navigate these emotions and channel them into constructive and spiritually grounded responses. Here are some ways to cope Islamically with witnessing a genocide:

1. Turn to Allah in Prayer and Supplication (Du’a)

One of the most powerful tools a believer has is prayer. Allah reminds us in the Qur’an:

“And seek help through patience and prayer, and indeed, it is difficult except for the humbly submissive [to Allah]” (Qur’an 2:45).

Make heartfelt du’a for the victims of the genocide, asking Allah to grant them justice, relief, and Jannah (Paradise) if they have passed away. Pray for an end to the oppression and for the guidance of those responsible. This connection with Allah not only benefits the oppressed but also brings peace to your heart.

2. Educate Yourself and Others

Knowledge is a form of empowerment. Learn about the situation, its history, and the factors contributing to the genocide. Share this information with your community to raise awareness. Allah encourages us to stand for justice:

“O you who have believed, be persistently standing firm in justice, witnesses for Allah, even if it be against yourselves or parents and relatives…” (Qur’an 4:135).

Through education, we can combat ignorance and mobilize support for those in need.

3. Support Charitable Efforts

Contributing financially to relief organizations working on the ground is a tangible way to help. Even small donations, when done sincerely, hold immense reward in Islam. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said:

“The most beloved of deeds to Allah are those that are consistent, even if they are small” (Sahih Bukhari).

Your charity can provide food, medical aid, and shelter to those affected.

4. Engage in Activism and Advocacy

Advocate for the oppressed by signing petitions, contacting leaders, and participating in peaceful demonstrations. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said:

“Whoever of you sees an evil, let him change it with his hand. If he cannot, then with his tongue. And if he cannot, then with his heart—and that is the weakest of faith” (Sahih Muslim).

Your voice matters and can help create pressure for change.

5. Seek Emotional Support

Witnessing or learning about such atrocities can deeply affect your mental health. Islam encourages believers to support one another:

“The believers are but a single brotherhood…” (Qur’an 49:10).

Share your feelings with trusted friends, family, or a counselor. Remember, seeking help is not a sign of weakness but a means to regain strength.

6. Practice Gratitude and Patience (Sabr)

While acknowledging the suffering of others, reflect on the blessings Allah has granted you and express gratitude. At the same time, exhibit patience as you navigate the emotional toll of witnessing such events. Allah promises great rewards for those who practice sabr:

“Indeed, the patient will be given their reward without measure” (Qur’an 39:10).

7. Remember the Temporary Nature of this World

As painful as these events are, they remind us of the impermanence of this dunya (world). Allah has promised ultimate justice in the Hereafter:

“And We have placed the scales of justice for the Day of Resurrection, so no soul will be treated unjustly at all…” (Qur’an 21:47).

Knowing that Allah’s justice will prevail can bring solace to the heart.

8. Strengthen Your Relationship with the Qur’an

The Qur’an is a source of guidance and healing. Recite it, reflect on its meanings, and find comfort in Allah’s words. Verses that highlight Allah’s mercy, justice, and wisdom can renew your faith and provide clarity during difficult times.

Conclusion

Watching a genocide unfold is a deeply painful experience, but as Muslims, we are not left without guidance. By turning to Allah, taking practical steps, and supporting the oppressed, we can transform our grief into action. Trust in Allah’s plan and justice, and remember that even the smallest act of kindness and solidarity can make a difference. May Allah alleviate the suffering of all oppressed people and guide us to be a source of support and strength for them. Ameen.
