HADITH OF THE DAY: PRAISING GOD REMOVES SINS

A man once said to the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him): "Wealthy people have all the rewards; they pray as we pray; they fast as we fast; and they (also) have surplus wealth which they give in charity. But we have no wealth that we may give in charity (to gain reward from God)."

The Prophet replied: "Should I teach you phrases by which you may acquire the rank of those who excel you (in wealth)? ... (Say 'God is Most Great,' 'Praise be to God' and 'Glory be to God' after each prayer) ... and end by saying, 'There is no god but God alone, there is no partner, to Him belongs the Kingdom, to Him praise is due, and He has power over everything.' (The person who does this) will be forgiven his sins, even if they are like the foam of the sea."

Sunan of Abu-Dawood, Hadith 593
